When can a jump start help?

A jump start may help when the battery has insufficient charge to start the vehicle. A battery can become discharged after an extended period without use or because an electrical device was left on.

Slow cranking, a clicking sound or dimming lights may be associated with battery charge, but these symptoms alone do not confirm the cause. Describe what happens when you try to start the car so we can assess whether this service is suitable.

Not every starting problem is caused by a flat battery

A vehicle can fail to start for other reasons. If the engine turns over normally but does not start, or unusual fault messages appear, a jump start may not resolve the problem.

We do not guarantee a successful start before assessing the situation. If assistance is unsuitable or the fault requires further investigation, we explain this. Extensive diagnostics, repairs and towing are not included in this service.

What information do we need before attending?

Please provide the following details:

• The vehicle’s make, model and year, if known.
• Whether it is petrol, diesel, hybrid or electric.
• What happens when you try to start it.
• Any fault messages shown on the dashboard.
• The exact location and any parking garage access restrictions.
• Whether the vehicle is accessible and the keys are available.

If the car is locked and the keys are unavailable, tell us separately. Vehicle opening is a separate service whose availability and price must be agreed.

Assistance suited to the vehicle

Suitability is checked against the vehicle and its electrical system. Work follows the vehicle manufacturer’s instructions. If the battery’s condition or another issue prevents assistance, we discuss the next steps before proceeding.

For hybrid and electric vehicles, any suitable assistance concerns the vehicle’s low-voltage system. This service is not charging for the traction battery. Provide the exact model when you first contact us.

What happens after a jump start?

A successful start does not prove that the battery or charging system is in good condition. If the battery goes flat again or the problem returns, the cause should be investigated by an appropriate service provider.

Jump starting also does not mean the battery has been fully charged. Charging and subsequent use depend on the vehicle, battery and circumstances. We do not promise that driving for a fixed amount of time will resolve the problem.

How much does jump start assistance cost?

The price depends on the location, timing of the visit, vehicle details and access arrangements. A car parked inside a parking garage may require additional coordination.

Call and describe the situation so we can agree the service and price before attending. We also clarify any callout or labour charge if the vehicle does not start or assistance cannot be carried out. Any additional work is agreed separately.
